From there we will discuss the future work and how ACORD will utilize broad industry standards from WSI, W3C, and OASIS to solve our needs.

What is V2? Why is it being developed? What about V1? The ongoing transformation to V2 is scheduled to finish by year-end 2006. This is the most significant deliverable since the V1 XML publication nearly five years ago. In brief, V2 is a new XML specification for P&C/Surety (PCS). This session is an opportunity to get familiar with the basics including a short history, current status on the development effort, and some of the basics involving design principles.

ACORD Training: MTOM and the ACORD Standard

Everyone is aware of the problems associated with transporting binary data in XML. While ACORD has implemented a couple of ways of doing this including base64 encoding and SOAP with Attachments, this is a new concept that is emerging referred to as MTOM. In this session, we will first review the shortcomings of our current approaches. After a brief overview of MTOM and use of the element, we will walk through construction of an MTOM packet containing binary data and show how this can be applied to current ACORD Standards. The session will include demonstration of sample programs and comparisons of performance.

Carriers and vendors have said they will use the survey results to determine where to invest development dollars in the future.
